Greg grew up in a family with a long musical heritage. As a young boy he
spent many evenings backstage at the Kingsland Theatre and Kiel Opera
House in St. Louis listening to his father’s quartet open for groups like the
Statesmen and Blackwood Brothers. Many times his dad encouraged him
to become involved on stage, but Greg, intimidated by his Father's talent,
declined. “ I wish I had known then what I know now and had taken that
opportunity,” Greg reflected.
Following in his father's footsteps, Greg began singing in a small church
quartet and traveled the mid-west performing for churches and special
events. At the age of sixteen, he became a member of “Voice of One”
which subsequently was voted the best new band of 1976 at the Gospel
Music convention. “It was a great honor to open for and share the stage
with the Happy Goodman Family,” Greg stated.
In 1977 Greg joined the Navy and with his new wife, Shelia, spent several
years living in Southern California and Japan. In 1985 they returned to St.
Louis and Greg's passion for music rekindled when he joined a Gospel
quartet. He also became member of the St. Louis Promise Keeper’s band.
Greg has been with Crossover since its conception. With his strong vocal
ability, multi-octave range and quick wit, he has a unique style and the
talent to imitate artists from Elvis Presley and Jim Carey to President Bill
Clinton.
