As a young boy of 12, Rocky would watch the Stage Band
drummer play "Wipe Out" and thought the guy was just too cool.
So he found a pair of welding rods, filled one-gallon tin
molasses buckets for tom toms and created a snare drum with
bb's. His Mom's best pot lids were hung from the ceiling as
cymbals. An old tin wash tub became the bass drum. "It didn't
take long for my parents to buy me a set of drums!" Rocky
laughs.
His Sophomore year of High School Rocky began playing gigs
with a six piece band on the weekends and learned what playing
professionally was about. Then his Junior year Rocky formed
his own band, "The Better Half". As a Senior Rocky received a
full music scholarship to Pikeville College. While there, he was
offered the opportunity to become Loretta Lynn's drummer.
After Rocky and Michelle met and married they toured the US
for 9 years. Their band, Montage, played an average of 50
weeks a year at resorts, hotels & clubs. One of the highlights
was performing at Resorts International in Atlantic City and
appearing on the Easter Seals Telethon representing Resorts
International.
In 1985, two years after the birth of their son, Aaron, the
Rowes accepted a 5 year long house gig as a duo in Huntington,
W.Va. There they co-wrote 'The Best is Yet to Come,' which was
adopted as the city theme song for Huntington, W.Va. At the
same time the Rowes released a record "With or Without You"
regionally and shared the stage in concert with Kathy Matea,
Earl Thomas Conley, Shelley West, Ricky Scaggs, Billy Crash
Craddock and Cal Smith. Rocky and Michelle also performed at
the Governor's Mansion several times, at political fund raisers
for the governor, and for the opening of Interstate 64. The
Rowes have also co-written jingles for Holiday Inn and the Tara
Plantation Dinner House in Moberly, MO.
In 1993 Rocky and Michelle moved to Medina, Ohio where they
became involved with the local Miss America Pageant, acting as
emcee while also providing the musical entertainment.
In 1996 Rocky and Michelle moved to Lake Saint Louis, MO.
They continued to play local events as a duo until forming
Crossover in 2004.
In 2004 Rocky and Jeremy Durbin saw a need in the community
and teamed together to create the anti-addictions program,
"CHOICES". Since then "CHOICES" has touched many people's
lives and continues to educate the public on addictions. For
